If there is one food that South Indian mothers have trusted for generations to nourish their babies and keep their families strong, it is Sathu Maavu — a wholesome multigrain health mix that has stood the test of time. Known as kanji podi in Tamil Nadu, this nutrient-dense powder is made from a blend of roasted grains, pulses, and nuts, and can be prepared in minutes as a warm porridge or kanji.
At Supathya, our Multigrain Sathu Maavu Kanji Powder is crafted from carefully selected grains with no added sugar, no preservatives, and no artificial flavours — just pure, wholesome nutrition.

What is Sathu Maavu?
Sathu Maavu literally means "nutritious flour" in Tamil. It is a traditional South Indian health mix made by dry-roasting and grinding a combination of grains, millets, pulses, and sometimes nuts and seeds. The result is a fine, aromatic powder that can be mixed with warm water or milk to make a porridge called kanji.
It has been a staple weaning food for babies in Tamil Nadu for centuries, and is equally popular among adults as a quick, nutritious breakfast or evening snack.

- A pinch of cardamom (optional, for babies above 8 months)
Method:
- Mix the sathu maavu powder with a little cold water to form a smooth paste (no lumps).
- Heat the remaining water in a small pan. Add the paste and stir continuously on low heat.
- Cook for 5–7 minutes, stirring constantly, until the kanji thickens to a smooth, pourable consistency.
